The LCD PCD8544 Controller LCD (5110 Compatible LCD) is ideal for your electronics projects where a 1602 LCD is not enough. The 5110 LCD lets you display 84 x 48 pixels, creating images or other symbols.
The LCD and controller consumes very little, the required power being 320uA at a 3.3V supply voltage.
The display is very popular and used lately, being known for its simplicity. Code examples are found in the attachments.
Low power consumption and reduced dimensions make it easy to integrate into projects, especially when using a battery that needs a long lifetime. Despite its small size, it offers a relatively good resolution. It can display text, symbols and has blue background light. With the right libraries you can display bitmap images.
In order to have as low a battery life as possible, many devices use less power - 3.3 volts. This LCD is part of this category.
To use the module we will use two libraries:
http://cartearduino.ro/v1/link28.0
The PCD8544 library contains functions for controlling all LCDs in the PCD family, such as 5110, 4110, 3110, etc.
The GFX library contains functions for displaying various graphics:
http://cartearduino.ro/v1/link28.1
You will need these libraries. You may install them without accessing http://cartearduino.ro/v1/link28.2, only with the help of the Library Manager.
Connections are shown in the figure below:
Attention, the module's power supply voltage is 3.3 V. It has a blue backlight, the brightness of which is controlled by the potentiometer in the image. A simple resistor would be enough, but in this case you will not be able to adjust the brightness. The module uses the SPI protocol to communicate with Arduino.
Upload and run the example provided by the Adafruit-PCD8544.h library. You can use the features available to display text and characters. You can display bitmap images (low resolution). The bitmap format stores pixels that make up the image under hexadecimal values. To display the bitmap you want, you can use an online bitmap-to-hexadecimal converter, and then upload the values obtained in an array of integer elements, as you can see in the example given.
Although it is relatively small in size, this display can display far more elements than the classic 16x2 LCD, such as a calendar. You can create a digital-stickynotes project with alarm, which you can use with a joystick to create a game or with the Arduino ADC to create a mini-oscilloscope.
big bang for the buck
Backlight-ul, in schimb, e slab si aproape inutil, lcd-ul putand afisa foarte bine si fara el.
